Police Officer Kills Ex-Partner in Buenos Aires

A Federal Police officer shot and killed her ex-partner, who had complaints for gender-based violence and a restraining order and attempted to attack her in an apartment in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Caballito. Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that officers from the 6B Neighborhood Police Station went to the property on Cachimayo Street 100 after receiving a 911 call warning of a woman shot in the left thigh. Once inside, officers found the man dead with two gunshot wounds to the chest next to a Bersa pistol. Meanwhile, the daughters of the perpetrator and the victim, two girls aged 4 and 6, were found unharmed in a room. Investigators confirmed that the attacker, a 36-year-old Paraguayan citizen, had a history of gender-based violence and an active restraining order. The officer, a member of the Argentine Federal Police's Vehicle Theft Division, had managed to separate from her ex-boyfriend and move into the residence six months ago. SAME staff determined her transfer to the Durand Hospital, while the National Prosecutor's Office for Criminal and Correctional Matters No. 8 took over the case, and the Homicide Division is leading the investigation.
